Mini Habits for Weight Loss: Stop Dieting. Form New Habits. Change Your Lifestyle Without Suffering. (Volume 2)By Stephen Guise

You will never diet again.

Say goodbye to calorie counting, restrictive food bans, or other forced behaviors. In Mini Habits for Weight Loss, you will learn how to lose weight naturally, in the precise way your body and brain are meant to change.

We've blamed ourselves for lack of discipline. That didn't help.
We've blamed calories, carbs, and fat. That didn't help.
We've blamed our diet formulas. That didn't help.

It's time we looked at the practice of dieting.

Nearly all diets are ineffective because they're based on dieting. Every person has a diet (noun), but it's only if you are trying to lose weight that you diet (verb). Dieting is eating and drinking sparingly or selectively to reduce your weight.

It doesn't work. If you've tried dieting, you know that.

Even the "perfect diet" with the right foods will fail if it's approached from the traditional dieting perspective. Since weight loss experts are more concerned with biology than neuroscience, we get brilliant discussions on nutrition followed by the same dumb suggestion to "immediately start eating completely different foods than the ones you're habitually used to eating, and give up everything else."

Are You Fighting Your Own Body and Brain?
The brain resists dramatic behavioral shifts. Recognizing this and developing a strategy around it made the original Mini Habits the #1 selling self-help book in a number of countries. In Mini Habits for Weight Loss, you'll see that we also biologically resist such changes, which explains why most dieters and smoothie-cleanse aficionados lose weight in the short term, only to gain it all back (and more) when the body adjusts.

Mini Habits for Weight Loss will show you how to make dietary changes in a sustainable, permanent way that doesn't trigger biological or neurological resistance.

It's a specialized version of the method that made the original book a hit in 14 languages. The mini habits remain easy to implement, but the reasoning and supporting tactics are more sophisticated. This is by necessity, as weight loss factors are many and varied. The strategies in the book are rooted in extensive biological and neuroscience research.

You'll discover:

  • Why it's a terrible idea to forbid junk food.

  • How some of the most impactful changes you can make don't involve either diet or exercise.

  • Why conscious calorie restriction causes long-term weight GAIN, and how this science has been publicly available (and ignored) for more than 30 years.

  • How the body's change process mirrors that of the brain, and why that is great news for losing weight.

  • Creative strategies to mitigate weight gain from eating out, social events, and holiday binge sessions.

  • Why eating fruit is essential to losing weight (for lots of reasons).

  • The role of exercise and an active lifestyle in weight loss, with appropriate strategies.

Most importantly, you'll learn how to change your behavior and lose weight in the long term with mini habits.

Instead of reading yet another dieting book, why not try a proven behavioral change strategy that your brain and body will welcome and respond to?

Lasting change won't happen until you take that first step toward a strategy that works.
Read Mini Habits for Weight Loss, and you'll never diet again.

Review
Author Guarantee: I will never buy, trade, or otherwise ask for a favorable review. Here are some quotes from Amazon reviewers:

"I've already lost 12 pounds and my scale hasn't budged in a decade! Insanely easy to follow and explained in detail why it works and it makes so much sense. This book was life changing for me."
- Nancy I (verified purchase)

"This book can simply change your life. I know - I've been dieting all my life and got nowhere, but can see how the strategies descibed in this book can change it forever."
- Amazon Customer J (verified purchase)

"I've tried SO MANY weight loss things to no avail. I'm doing mini habits now and crushing it--with seemingly no effort. I recommend this to everyone who desires to make sustainable changes. This book is the best investment you can make in yourself. Stop giving your money to the diet industry!"
- Erina (verified purchase)

"This is an excellent book. I've read the original Mini Habits book, which was also excellent, but I didn't think this would have much to add to the original book. I was definitely wrong, I'm glad to say. This book provides a fresh perspective on the concepts of dieting, exercise, and weight loss."
- Tomeika Ulett-Garcia (verified purchase)

"I finished this book about a week ago and decided to simply switch out skim milk yogurt for whole milk yogurt and add fruit to breakfast and lunch in the 2X2 plan talked about in the book. With these very small changes, I have lost three pounds in the last week and we are in the throes of the holiday season. What appeals to me most is as you are establishing mini habits, you are adding to, not subtracting from, whatever you already do. I have still had pizza this week and have not restricted anything else, I have only added in. Please understand that this is about changing what you do OVER TIME. If you are desperate to crash off some weight, this book is not for you. Take a deep breath, slow yourself down, get some patience and then get this book."
- Jenteachbd (verified purchase)

"This has changed my way of thinking about diet and weight loss."
- Lee (verified purchase)

This book is without a doubt one of the most useful guides I’ve ever read when it comes to applying Lean Product concepts to real-life situations. It guides you through a step by step (it’s a playbook!) strategy for helping you build better, more innovative products, and while you are reading it, it gives you key examples and engaging stories to illuminate each of the steps. Contrary to other “business” books I’ve read, this one is directed and insightful (and entertaining!), making me want to continue reading, and more importantly, enabled me to immediately utilize the strategies. The book offers a combined discussion of Lean Product process, UX Design, Agile Development, and Analytics, which truly covers everything you need to know to build great products that customers will love. One of the key ideas of the book revolves around Product-Market fit, and how to achieve it using a 6-step process. The steps are clear and concise, and the examples and included figures are very tangible and easy to understand.Additionally, this is one of the few books I’ve come across that clearly explains and puts into the proper context how to think about things such as UX design (a 4-layer model of conceptual design, information architecture, interaction design and visual design), User testing (and various methods of doing it quickly and cheaply), Personas, the Kano model, Kanban, and Scrum, to name a few. Whether you’ve already successfully implemented Lean Product principles, are looking to start, are having trouble applying the concepts, or maybe you just aren’t sure where to begin, I highly recommend this book.

This is one of three books that every entrepreneur should read. The first two are The Lean StartUp by Eric Ries and The Phoenix Project by Gene Kim, Kevin Behr and George Spafford. In the Lean Product Playbook Dan provides you almost a step by step instruction set for the on the ground game of building a product and taking it to market. Be warned of one thing while you read, before you start saying "Well yeah in that case it would work like that but what about x?" make sure you read the entire chapter. 99% of the time Dan will answer that exact question before the chapter is done. It was kind of like he was reading my mind while I was reading the book. Very strange but in a good way.I purchased this book because Dan was coming to town to speak at a local meetup and I wanted to better understand his talk. What ended up happening is a major course correction for my product development. Only time will tell if this was a good idea but I'll have to say I feel much more confident in using the methods outlined in this book.

A lot of other reviews state that this book is a must for product managers... I disagree. I think it's a must for executives, entrepreneurs, and designers as well. I've had the pleasure of seeing Dan speak and walked away with a lot of nuggets of truths on launching products successfully with iterative cycles. It's great he's taken the time to write a comprehensive book that covers A-Z on lean product methodology. The interesting thing about Lean is that it's not just a product methodology. You will learn many lessons on how to apply to improve operations, processes, and virtually all aspects of your company.

Most new products (70-80%) fail in the market. And most of these products don't fail because they were built or marketed poorly; they fail because they are the wrong products to start with. Products that people don't really want or need (despite what they may have thought or blurted out during focus groups.)A great product-market fit is a rare beast and most companies discover too late that they've spent months or years developing and perfecting a product that the market does not care about. The Lean Startup approach has, deservedly, gained a lot of recognition and praise for helping entrepreneurs and innovators minimize their chances of failure by focusing them on validating their ideas before over-investing in them. But I've seen many entrepreneurs talking the Lean Startup talk and not walking the walk. Not because they do not WANT to, but because they are not sure HOW to. Experienced people have a hard-time giving up their old ways, and first-timers are not sure where to start. This is where Dan Olsen's book comes in. Dan guides you, step-by-step–and with a lot of examples and case studies–through the Lean Product process. The thing I liked best about "The Lean Product Playbook" is that, unlike many business books, there is no fat in it: it's a LEAN book about LEAN product–the opposite of those books that take one concept that can be explained in 10 pages and turn it into a 300-page book through repetition and filler material. Every chapter and every section contains clear and actionable instructions on what to do, what to measure and how to make sure you don't fool yourself.Winning in the market with a new product is a challenge, but Dan Olsen is a great coach and if you follow his advice and techniques you will be in a great position to beat those terrible odds for market success that I mentioned at the beginning of this review.Bravo "coach" Dan, and thank you for sharing your playbook with us!

I own the Audible and Kindle versions of this book. Why?! Because it's that damn valuable! I need the audio version so I can listen to it several times to let all the concepts sink in, and the Kindle version so I can read the words and make notes to go through later so I can apply them in my own projects. This is the evolution of Eric Ries "Lean Start Up". This book tells you the exact step-by-step process you need to take to make your product successful in the marketplace. This book needs to be required reading for anyone who has an idea for a product, manages new product development, or designs new products. This is probably one of the most important books I will read all year, and I am on track to read 100 books in their entirety this year!
